“Retratamento, em busca da estabilidade”

Por vezes um paciente desloca-se à nossa consulta para uma avaliação oclusal e verificamos que já foi efetuado um tratamento ortodôntico prévio. Nem sempre o paciente está ciente da necessidade fazer um novo tratamento contudo, devemos informá-lo da necessidade de fazer uma nova correção para atingir a estabilidade.

Para planear este novo tratamento e tentar alcançar a estabilidade multidimensional do caso, devemos avaliar o que foi diagnosticado, proposto e executado anteriormente. Desta forma conseguimos perceber as limitações do tratamento anterior e delinear novas estratégias de tratamento para esta reintervenção.

Durante esta apresentação será feita uma reflexão acerca deste tema ilustrando-o com diversos casos clínicos.

“Retreatment, in search of stability”

Sometimes a patient comes to our consultation for an occlusal evaluation and we verify that a previous orthodontic treatment has already been carried out. The patient is not always aware of the need for a new treatment, however we must inform him of the need to make a new correction to achieve stability.

To plan this new treatment and try to achieve the multidimensional stability of the case, we must evaluate what was previously diagnosed, proposed and performed. In this way, we were able to understand the limitations of the previous treatment and outline new treatment strategies for this reintervention.

During this presentation, a reflection will be made on this topic, illustrating it with several clinical cases.
